Someone asked about cameras. I was Scribe for our last Council
Woodbadge. I used a <$100 Vivitar 1.3MB digital camera purchased
from Wally World. It used 4 AA batteries & a 128MB CF card (held
129 pictures full resolution). With the LCD screen off, I took
over 600 pictures before I changed batteries. Of course I had
to download pictures several times from the CF Card.
Calvin Gray (Hi Cal!) spoke about cavalcade. I remember in '89
at a staffed camp that offered Chuckwagon stew for dinner that
we were the only crew in line for chow when in comes a cavalcade
crew and they are taken to the front & fed before us. By the
time the chow got down to those of us in the back we got roughly
half of what the folks up front got. I took a lot of effort
to sooth some irritated feelings from our youth, especially since
they had just hiked 9 miles while the cavalcade crew was whining
about their 10 mile leg on horseback. I had a horse growing
up so I couldn't really understand the cavalcade crew's gripe.
Musta been a buncha city slickers.
Still gotta Scout going to ROCS and I never received any reply
regarding my first request for tips. Any tips I could pass along
would be appreciated. In light of the recent fires I would suspect
he may be asked to work conservation in the North Country area
if it opens up. If anyone hears any info, could you please pass
it this way?
Thanks again, y'all have great treks and stay safe!
