m caused several fires on/and around Philmont=92s North Country. The=

o the severe drought, the Valle Vidal has been closed since May 15 an=
d=0D=0Aremains closed. The Ranch is also complying with the New Mexi=
co Statewide fire=0D=0Aban.=0D=0A=0D=0AWith this in mind, all Philmon=
t north of Highway 64 will be closed until the=0D=0ANew Mexico State =
Forestry Department has lifted the use restrictions caused=0D=0Aby th=
e fire.=0D=0A=0D=0AIt is the desire of the Philmont Scout Ranch to fu=
lfill Philmont Dreams. Plans=0D=0Aare in motion to accommodate all o=
f the 2002 crews. In order to accomplish=0D=0Athis, all itineraries =
will be directed to the Central and South Country.=0D=0A=0D=0AWhile w=
e realize this experience may be different than originally planned, o=
ur=0D=0A2002 Staff has trained and is prepared to deliver a great and=
 unique Philmont=0D=0Aexperience.=0D=0A=0D=0AAll itineraries that tra=
vel through areas north of Highway 64 (to include the=0D=0AValle Vida=
l) will be changed. To facilitate this process, Philmont will make=
=0D=0Aa sincere effort to assign an itinerary in the South and Centra=
l parts of the=0D=0ARanch that accommodate similar North Country prog=
rams.=0D=0A=0D=0AWe realize this accommodation may have an impact on =
all itineraries.=0D=0A=0D=0APlease be assured Philmont stands ready t=
o deliver the finest and safest High=0D=0AAdventure and Training Prog=
rams possible.=0D=0A=0D=0APlease note: Due to the possibility of smo=
ky conditions at Philmont during=0D=0Athe first part of summer, the P=
hilmont Medical Staff would strongly encourage=0D=0Aindividuals with =
respiratory disease such as asthma, chronic bronchitis or emphysema=
