Our two Philmont crews (609-E-8 & 609-E-9) have been on
the road for at least three hours as they were scheduled
to depart Austin at 6 a.m. this morning as part of the
Capitol Area Council's twelve crew contingent. The
contingent is traveling in three motorcoaches. The tour
director arranged an extra night at Philmont so a large
group of Texans will be among first campers to arrive
this summer.
After eating lunch at Texas Tech University in Lubbock
and dinner at Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM,
they are scheduled to arrive at Philmont at 9:30 p.m.
Both of our crews were originally scheduled to do north
country treks. Of course, they will now be in the south
and/or central country due to the closure of everything
north of Highway 64. This year, their visits to
logistics will be longer than usual as that's probably
the first time they will find out exactly where they are
going.
If you see our guys at CHQ or in the back country
wearing white crew T-shirts with "Troop 405 - Georgetown
Texas" in red letters, tell them their Scoutmaster said
hello. That should reinforce their opinion that I have
spies everywhere, and can even "reach out" from a summer
camp in east Texas as that's where I'll be for the next
week.:-)
