Well thanks to those of you who had some more detailed knowledge from
reports back from other crews.
I got the feeling of being chastised from the list for asking for detail
information. Ever hear of the Scout Motto!
We all know about the fire and what is closed. Question was, what might be
the changes.
So far I've heard that Trek 2 and 3 went to Trek 5. Now that was valuable
information.
Who knows if that is what will happen to us, but it does make it as the odds
on favorite right now.
That means I have to prep our crew for two dry camps and one long hike back
across the Tooth.
It also lets us know what activities to expect.
As Crew Chief I want and need to inform my crew. I read all the fire
updates daily.
We all spent a lot of money for this and I'm sure the Philmont experience
will be a great one.
Perhaps if Philmont would post some official information on what is going on
it would reduce the need to call them.
I also get the impression that people who's treks are weeks away are
calling, where people like us who are leaving now are in more need of
immediate information. I'm sure the staff at Philmont are all wonderful
people, but the SILENCE IS DEAFENING.
