Thanks Mr. Mussler,
Seems you are one of the rare persons on the list with common sense.
I joined the list when I got appointed Crew Chief. There has been some good
information, but for the most part many of the people are more concerned
with opinion than factual or good information. There are a select few that
I have the utmost respect and admiration for and I apologize to them.
Up to now I thought of trying to do Philmont again in 2 years, either as
staff or still as a Scout, but 2 years is a short time for the land to
recover. No shade trees... Seabase is looking very appealing right now.
We have 4 crews going in August to Seabase.
All I know is I won't join this list next time. The other Philmont message
board seems to have people on it that are really green to Philmont. But
friendlier and still willing to help others with information and suggestions
that follow the Scout Motto.
I just wish Philmont could take 5 minutes a day and just post a message to
both lists and give people some information. Don't need a Web site or Admin
person to maintain anything. Thank God for people like Phil Romans who
posts information that he gathers on what is going on. Or we'd all be
mushrooms.
I wasn't going to post this to the list since it basically slams some of the
users/abusers of the list, but today's my last day on it and frankly, like
you said, time to speak the obvious. So I guess I just failed on 3 points
of the Scout Law and stepped on the line of being politically correct.
I honestly hope that all Crews going to Philmont will have a great time.
Many of you that follow us that are the first during this time of turmoil
will benefit from our experiences as Philmont tries to figure out what to
do. It doesn't get any more of an adventure at Philmont than this. That's
what I signed up for.
Wish us luck and pray for rain. Now that's odd to pray for rain while
you're out there.
David
Common sense is lost when you
can't see the forest through the trees
Information is Knowledge
Knowledge is Power
Power is Independence
Independence means Freedom
Freedom to Choose, Freedom of Speech (but only if it is the truth)

Good Points David!
I feel your frustration, because most of the info you received was stuff
that was intuitively obvious to the most casual observer upon inspection.
I also totally agree, and am glad that you finally spoke the obvious.....
Keep up the good work! I'm with you
