I was going to let this thread slide by, until this post. Boy does this
bring back memories. I live in Phoenix, AZ now, but lived in Columbia, MO
for part of my life. My 7th grade science teacher introduced us to the
Current River as a field trip. I went back several times while I lived in
the area. Anyway......you can get the no-frig bacon in most any food store
around here. On my last (and first) trip one of the advisors brought bacon.
We had it about half way through the trip. I carried one water bottle with
"good water from home in the bottom of my pack". It came out on top of
Baldy and we all shared it as a celebration of getting to the top. In both
of these cases the crew had no idea we had brought them along.
