> OK, I'll bite. What is Perlon chord? Where would one find it?
I believe what is being referred to is a climbing rope - well not actually
climbing rope, but is used in climbing for things like slings and so forth.
It is kernmantle contructed, that is a fiber bundle inner core sheathed in a
woven outer mantle. This makes the cordage quite strong and abrasion
resistant. This type of rope is also usually made of synthetics that are UV
resistant. The 6mm size is roughly 1/4 inch in diameter and can usually be
found in bulk at outdoor equipment stores that carry climbing hardware (REI,
EMS etc). You can buy whatever length you need, but it is more expensive than
nylon "rope" - 150 feet could run $25 - $30 or so.
