In my opinion the Perlon is not worth the expense if the only use it will
see is at Philmont. There are very few pieces of equipment that I would
purchase solely for use at Philmont. However, if you have an active bunch
of backpackers who can take care of their equipment, the equation becomes a
little different, particularly if you take your time and find the equipment
at good prices. Only you can determine the cost/benefit based on your
particular circumstances.
