[Philmont]: update...

I too am going on Trek 32 next month - I'm interested in hearing if anyone knows what's going on with the particular trek. Any information would be much appreciated.

I just got a phone call from one of my good friends who is the CD at Baldy Town this summer. He is now up at the camp for the first time this summer, after spending 2 weeks working at the commissary in base camp (a lot of north country staffers were temp
orarily reassigned to base camp positions). The staff there is basically on look-out right now, keeping an eye out for any more potential fires. Still no word on whether or not the north country will be reopened at all, though there has been some rainfa
 l
Having staff up there is a good sign, though. No buildings, with the possible exception of some latrines, were destroyed in the fires, contrary to some of the information out there.

Keep praying for more rain...
