MSR makes some nice bags called Dromedaries. They have a large mouth
opening, a threaded loop that circles the bag woven through grommets so the
bag can easily be carried, strapped down or hung on a branch. They are
covered with of a very tough material and I have never had one leak or
break. I have a 1 lt., 2 lt., 4 lt. and 6 lt. They also make a nice twist
lever spout that can have a hose attached for a shower or whatever.

The other thing to consider is a collapsible bucket, typically made of a
tough waterproof material with a handle. Great for hauling water back to
camp. They can also be employed when river water is murky. Dip and fill with
water and wait a little while until the debris settles.
