My young fellow MSU alumnus,
I did something similar when I was your age and younger.
According to the medical folks, one result was that I wound up having two
cataract surgeries, one when I was age 50 and another when I was 51. One
of those surgeries resulted in complications and blindness in my right
eye.
Now, I can no longer backpack for any distance because of my reduced vision
and lack of depth perception. Thus, at Philmont, I'm limited to the PTC,
Autumn Adventure or Kanik.
My advice is to wear that cap or hat or get one of those visors that
shades your eyes without covering your head. When you get my age, you'll
probably
wear a full cap or hat as not doing that will result in a painful sunburn.
