This reminds me of the cardinal rule. Who's trek is it anyway? The parent that had the hats made or the youth that bought their own hats THEY wanted.
Good parental advise. Let the kids grow up. You can't wipe their noses forever.

The boys all bought Cowboy hats at the trading post in '99. I remember it was '99 because a parent had had hats made for us and the advisor of the other crew got annoyed that we were wearing cowboy hats instead of the caps. Oh well. Was quite a site to see them on the trail, and provided protection mentioned in other posts.
Going back in 2003!!
