Just a friendly reminder to all those going to Philmont this summer.
Leaving memorials violates the wilderness code. Many, many crews leave
rock formations, pictures, flags, etc. on top of Mt. Phillips and Baldy as
a memorial to themselves or to others. This is not the correct thing to
do. It takes away from the natural beauty of the area. It is not fair to
those coming behind you if they are not able to see the same view that you
did. In the past, I had to break up many memorials every time I went up
on one of these peaks.
