Responding to an old thread, I have a question for the veterans. Our Troop
is going to Philmont next year and we all need to get new sleeping bags for
the trek, principally because we need something packable as well as
something that will keep us warm in the Philmont nights. Our predicament is
that we live in Miami and don't necessarily want to get a 30 degree bag that
we may not need for our Florida camping trips. Even in the Winter, it seldom
gets cold enough to warrant a 30 degree bag.
I saw a great down bag at REI for $100 that is good for 45 degrees. I
thought that this bag with a silk liner, which would give an additional 8-9
degrees of warmth, would suffice for Philmont while the bag itself would be
comfortable for the coldest Florida nights where we camp.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.
Dennis in Miami
