Randy,
I suppose it wouldn't be too unusual that you might be somewhat allergic,
but I've read nothing about any other allergic reactions. You might read up
on it - there are numerous resources on the internet.
As for comparison, I've done several pairs of Ex-Officio shorts (wearing
some right now) with mesh liners and have no problem.

Subject: RE: [Philmont] - Permethrin
We have 3 crews going to NT- Sommers in less than 2 weeks. We had a troop
outing this past weekend. I thought I try the Permethrin advice below to see
how it works. I purchased the 13.3% Permethrin concentrate from
bugpage.com. I diluted the concentrate as per the guidance below and soaked
a t-shirt and a pair of nylon zip-off pants (with built-in mesh underwear)
in the mixture. After drying for the day, I put them on Friday night for
the 3 hour drive to the state park we were staying at. About 10PM I began to
feel a burning sensation in my "privates". Wishing I had worn a pair of
cotton underwear between myself and the mesh liner, I found myself giving
myself a sponge bath around midnight. I changed into untreated clothes and
had a great weekend camping and hiking with the troop. I guess I'm a bit
concerned about soaking all my clothes and then disappearing into the
wilderness for 9 days given this initial experience (what else might burn if
exposed long enough?). Anyone else have additional experience I could learn
from.
Thanks

P.S. oh, yeah... no mosquito bites.... (although the population wasn't very
large).
