It depends on why people go into the wilderness as to what kind of experience
they expect. Certainly, unless you know those around you wouldn't mind, don't
use your cell phone in front of them. Walk several yards down a deserted
trail before making that call.

Personally, I go into the outdoors to get away from it all. I don't care
if you bring a cell phone with you as long as you don't take calls in my
immediate presence. Then it just feels like car camping.

As far as whether Philmont is a wilderness experience, or "Disneymont"
I won't debate. The best outdoors experience I've ever had was 8-days
in the White Otter wilderness where the only other humans we saw until
the last day of the trip was a guy that landed his float plane on the lake
where we happened to be that day.
