I have found two dead tourists in the winter on Search and Rescue missions
either clutching a cell phone or lying next to a cell phone. We charge them
up and they spent their last hours on this earth believing that stupid
device would save them in the Rock Mountains. I quit SAR because of that. I
got tired of rescuing stupid people. If me railing against cell phones in
the wilderness, in the backcountry, at Scouting events makes one idiot not
walk as far back in the woods believing that stupid box would save them,
then it was worth it.

I have contests in the Wilderness when I see cell phones. I see how far I
can throw it and the owner sees if he can find it.

Found too many dead tourists clutching a dead cell phone thinking it was
going to save their life in the west.
