[Philmont]: Just got back

Brothers and Sisters,

Just got back from completing itinerary 26 (June 16th through June 28th)
and have a little info to share.

Cingular Wireless worked everywhere we tried it between Alabama to
Cimarron. We stayed one night prior to our trek at the St. James Hotel
and it worked fine there. My wife called home from base camp several
times without any problems getting a signal. We did not carry the phone
on the trek.

Those of you headed to Philmont via Interstate 40 through Arkansas
should be warned that there is a lot of road work being done. I saw
one highway department sign that said "the next 140 miles has several
areas of construction in progress." Prepare for delays and traffic
jams. Several dozen miles of one lane traffic. The construction
continues into Oklahoma but ends before OK city I believe. Lots of
state troopers patrolling the highway enforcing the slower speed limits
also.

More info on the trek later.
