Eagles Nest is on US 64, about 15 minutes west of Cimarron (on the other
side of Philmont). If you've been to the high peaks and seen a huge lake
just to your west, that would be Eagles Nest Lake - the town, which is about
the same size as Cimarron, is right on the northern shore of the lake. It's
more of a resort town than anything, since it's in close proximity to the
area ski resorts. I would say that if you go to a weather website, the
conditions at Eagles Nest would probably be the closest in comparison to
those in the backcounty of Philmont.
