Meals are issued by the day you hit the trail and then go cosecutively. ie. if
you start on the trail on JUly 9 you would eat 9,10,1,2,3,4,5..etc until you
come off the trail. When you stock up at base camp, or at one of the back
country commissaries, the staff know what to give you from your trek itenerary.
They know if you are getting a Chuckwagon dinner, thus they leave that meal
out. They know when you are going on the trail and when you come off so that
you don't get an extra lunch or dinner or breakfast that is not scheduled for a
particular day.
As a side light, I think this thread was started because someone wanted to
prepare a spice kit. In addition to spices we take an assortment of dehydrated
stuff like onions, peppers, hot peppers, carrots, celery etc. THey are very
light and a small handfull goes a long way to spicing up the meal. You can
prehydrate them by putting water in a baggie and carrying them that way after
lunch. I also like to dehydrate cole slaw and broccoli slaw. Add a bit of water
and make a dressing of vinegar and oil or what ever. It gives a bit of roughage
and viatmins,as well as the physcological effect of real vegatbles, somthing
notoriously missing in the menu.
