Scott Sibley asks...
Hmm, so the crews in late July get Meal 1 on July 31 and meal 1 on August 1?
And Don Roberts replied (tongue in cheek)
not at all. The calendar is suspended between July 30 and August 1, so you
don't have to deal with it. :-)
Comment...
But the real answer is that the system "breaks down" as of August 1. #2
Meals are issued August 1, #3 Meals on August 2, etc.
And realize that the meal numbers / date relation is ONLY for suppers.
Supper #2 is issued for dates ending in "2", along with Breakfast #2 and
Lunch #2 for the next day (this means that for days with a scheduled food
pickup, you will already have the breakfast and lunch for that day, and you
only have to get to the commissary before it closes for that day's supper.)
Also, if you have a morning bus out of Base Camp, you will be issued an
extra trail lunch (if you have an afternoon bus you will get a Dining Hall
lunch ticket in Logistics.)
Lastly, in Logistics (if you have a hike return) they will ask if you expect
to be in Base Camp before lunch - if yes, it will be noted so that your last
commissary does not give you your last trail lunch and instead you will get
a dining hall lunch ticket for that day.
