For those of you who will be taking crews out to the ranch, please remind
your scouts to call home as soon as they arrive at the Ranch. Every year,
parents try to track down their kids if they do not hear from them. My wife was one
of these parents when my son participated in the Order of the Arrow Trail
Crew in 2002. She was very concerned when he did not call. The North section of
the ranch was on fire, and this concerned her also. As it turns out, he was
having too much fun to remember to call home. He already on the trail to the
backcountry when he thought about calling home. He worked for a week in the
south country, and then called home and said " I'm sorry for not calling".
