What do you mean to wash out? I'd hate to put soap in the propane line. I'd
be more concerned if these were XGKs or other multi-fuel stove.

IMO: If you pack them away, and not on your personal gear, the chances of an
ultra-close, personal attitude inspection are nil.

Concur with the conservative FEDex, method.

Doubt that I will, based on my experience.

OBTW: our air port was the first to use the air sampling machines, and used
them the most extensively (demonstration location). Nothing swabbed, no
issues. That's probably why I am not very concerned about the stoves.

in our troop that works for the TSA -- the rule is yes, you can take them...
BUT they cannot have ANY gas odor. They say wash them out with
soap and
water. Caution: you are still dealing with the individual and
not the
agency - so you could still have problems. The Hiking Club
recommends
[and what we do] is ship them UPS or FedEx ground. That way, they
are
waiting for us on arrival. No hassle.
