My vote is to take the burros. You go to Philmont to participate in activities that a local council can not usually provide. Our crew took them in '87 and they had a great time. Where else in the world can you experience a piece of early pioneer life and Americana like that. Will it be stubborn? Probably. Will you have slow going and problems? Probably. Will you have memories good and bad about that "stupid burro" that will last a lifetime. Absolutely! The burro program is a unique part of Philmont program and our crew never missed any other program areas as result of that "Rocky Mountain canary". Any program will be as much fun as your crew makes it. When I see a member of that crew we still mention "Gorgo". Yes, you will probably name him.
Take the Burro!
