Obviously some problems with the server yesterday - I subscribe in digest
mode, which are numbered in the subject line, and #992 came hours before
#991, which made following yesterday's threads a little more challenging...

Regarding the burros, my only experience with them is identical to Steve
Putnam's. My crew was doing Trek 21 in 2001. I tried (and guess succeeded)
in giving the boys the pros and cons - basically the items already discussed
in the thread - and let them decide. My preference, and since I didn't get
a vote I kept it to myself, was to skip the burros and go over Wilson Mesa.
The boys chose to take the burro (we only got one). And it was one of the
highlights of their trek.

By the way, this fall, my Autumn Adventure crew is planning a loop in the
North, and it looks like I will finally get to go over Wilson Mesa. Also a
crew decision...
