They had it all, poles, tackle (I don't think bait was needed) and
guides. I don't remember big catches but there were some good hits. We
got rained out pretty quickly. Hail, winds hard rain. Fish camp was
our conservation project and by the time it was done, about 3:30, here
came the rain up the valley. Still a good memory.

They had poles when I was there in 2000. What I noticed was that all
program equipment, such as the blackpowder rifles, (not to mention the
staff) showed the strain of numerous particpants by the end of the
season. We were there in late July and we are going back in early
August this year. I would probably carry my own flys, if not my own
pole late in the season. Fish camp is popular and fly fishing rosters
were full. I don't know about the other places or opportunities. I
have to say that I would not carry my own black powder rifle, even
though it took three pulls before it would fire! :-)

Does a crew need to provide any of their own fishing tackle for fish
camp? What does Philmont provide?
