This is the second message that mentions a trowel. I have an orange
plastic trowel (forget the brand), but the previous message indicated
that it would be useless in Philmont's soil. So should I quickly
upgrade my trowel.
Also, I suddenly don't recall if TP is Philmont issued. I usually take
my own on campouts, but in my effort of living up to my new mantra "less
is more" I took it out of my pack.
I'm shaking my head as I write this because the Philmont way is an
adaptation of normal backpacking; some things are done the same others
are not... some gear is the same, others are not. Anyway, I know when
we hit the trail all of this newbie fretting and worrying won't matter
as we'll be on our way!
