On each of my treks at Philmont we carried a orange plastic trowel,
probably the same type you have and used it a few times without any
problem. I wouldn't advise upgrading unless it is to a lighter trowel.
99% of the time you won't need it but when you do...
Philmont, at least last year, furnished all the TP you wanted to carry.
My wife had her own private roll.
