Well, I don't wish to scare anyone who has tender knees, but I would suggest
if your trek ends coming down Tooth Ridge, do NOT go horseback riding at
Clark's Fork the previous day. Riders are told to put 60-70% of their weight on
their legs rather than their butt. Bracing in the saddle really stresses the
knees in different places. (I had to be litter-carried the last two miles down
the ridge on July 4, 2003.)
If you are over 50, I strongly recommend lots of stairwell climbs and
descents, as well as quadriceps, hamstring and calf exercises at the gym.
