I'd plan on bringing extra batteries. Look for batteries with as large a capacity as you can (mAHr). Also, turn off the LCD display on the camera. It will extend the life considerably.
Last year, I took 3 batteries for my Canon Powershot S500, took several hundred photo's and only used one batter (which finally went dead while uploading my pictures at home).
