This should be a lesson learned. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE, ON A PLANE, IN A BUS,
IN A CAR, ON A TRAIN, without wearing boots. Carry the sneakers in the day
pack or just tough it out for a few hours. If the boots are on the feet,
they are not at home. Don't forget to do this when you leave a hotel or
other waypoint.
Advisors, you must also ensure that you have ALL THE PHYSICALS. Look them
over. Are they properly filled out, signed, do you have copies of all the
insurance cards?
Do you have your national tour permit ? How about payment reciepts to
Philmont?
Advisors, Nothing Happens at Philmont until you see the nice people in
administration check in. They want your tour permit and your money. They
want to see all the advisors together. If you are part of a contingent or
multiple units, get everyone together and go there immediately, if not
sooner. Have your crew leader take care of your personal gear and find the
crews later.
Philmont takes one picture of the crew or contingent. If you want another ie
you have a crew and want a contingent picture, you pay for them in advance
at check in where you show the nice lady your tour permit.
By the bye, pictures are taken with no hats or sunglasses, so if someone
gets lost they can make a copy and the rescue folks can see your smiling
face. If you want a picture with hats or sunglasses, see paragraph above.
Also pictures are only taken in the morning until about 11am to get the
angle of the sun on your mugs and the Tooth of Time in the background.Don't
Dilly Dally, take your tour permit, all the advisors and your $ to admin and
then get your picture taken.
oh by the way, have you thought about sending our your stoves? Allow 2
weeks. One if you push it. Get them gone and then verify they got there
Enjoy!
