RE: [Philmont]: Coleman Powermax Fuel

Depends on the stove, and the amount of coffee the Advisors drink in camp.

We had 2 large bottles of fuel (white gas not Powermax) for our 2 stoves.
Most of the time, we only cooked water for food and we never did more than
boil it on the stove (we were a turkey bag crew) and reconstitute without
heat. We did cook coffee on 3 or 4 days, but it was not religious. We used
all of those two bottles. We had only one incident with spilled water
(unfortunately it was almost at a boil when it fell), and we had just enough
fuel for the trip.

Mileage varies with use, so you need to see how your practice and shakedown
hikes go to estimate. Remember, it takes more fuel as you go up in
altitude.

How many of the large Coleman Powermax fuel canisters are needed for a trek?
