Earplugs! Don't leave home without them!

Also, plan on meal contingency for the return trip. Our eastbound train
was delayed 6 hours heading back to Chicago. We ate in Raton but some of
the boys were running a little short of cash. The delay added another
meal we had not planned on needing. Plus the train started to run out of
food. The dinner was closed to coach passengers for the final dinner and
the selection in the club car was getting mighty slim. I don't know why
Amtrak didn't restock in Kansas City during the extended layover. I'm
know it's not the first time they've experienced delays! ;-)

Anyway, if you're late homebound, you might want to spend some of your
wait shopping for return leg snacks.
