I have just returned from Philmont we did trek 24 -
The trail from Valle Vidal to Copper Park has not been completed there was an OA crew working on the new switch backs but it is not open. The one you will use is "Straight Down" take your time. As of 6/12/05 there was snow on the trail up to the top of the ridge (and some more that day).

Phil is correct. Camp sites are available along the trail. We passed a few to get the last one before the trail to Copper Park. The trail to Copper Park is an old logging road. Near the top the "trail" to Copper Park goes off to the left. In 2001 it was a Nightmare. Straight down. False steps that gave way with your weight. Was supposed to be a switch back system. Hope they have fixed it for you. FYI...we arrived in plenty of time to do French Henry. We wake at 6ish.
