RE: [Philmont]: Merit badges?

I have notified our crews that if a person wants to work on them, they
should be able to complete Hiking, Camping, Backpacking and a large
portion of Wilderness Survival in preparing for Philmont (plus the Fifty
Miler Award, the Leave No Trace Awareness Award, and the Philmont Duty
to God award). The individual crews may not complete all the
requirements, and there are some requirements that are somewhat outside
the scope of the preparation (i.e. 20 nights camping). But if a Scout
wants to work on the merit badge, there will be opportunities.

BUT - just doing the crew prep stuff won't get it - at least from this
counselor.

Happy Trails,

Roy Fisher
