RE: [Philmont]: Day of Departure - Activities?

Great question. Suggestions:

1. Ask staff for ideas. They will have the inside track on where the best
sights to see are.

2. Ask the crew to write up their experiences while they are fresh in mind,
to include in a photojournal of the trip they can construct when they get
home. Put it up on a web site and send me the URL - I'd love to see it!

3. Ask about available base camp program. The PTC has developed program
for people who don't go out on a trek and there might be something of
interest there.

4. Thoroughly browse the trading post for sourvenirs which will be
treasured momentos. There are probably picture books on Philmont which have
lots of interesting stuff that will bring back fond memories in the years to
come.

5. Goof off. Have a party. Have everyone celebrate the fact that "We All
Made It" with some tall tale telling and soda pop. Bake a victory cake in a
dutch oven.

Best wishes,

Joe Jansen
