definitely go see Villa Philmonte

BUT, be sure the make your tour reservations BEFORE you leave on your trek.
OR go before your trek.

Make reservations at the Seton Museum/library just south of Villa Philmonte.
Be sure to ask your Ranger about making reservations. Tours are scheduled
and we luckily got into the LAST tour of the day on the day before we were
leaving PHILMONT. Our train was leaving the next morning.

BTW --- There is a good BOOK at TOT Traders on the life of Waite Philips,
who donated Philmont to BSA and built/lived Villa Philmonte. Makes you
realize how much our society has changed. Philips was mostly self educated,
a world traveler, and HOBO, just like the western writer Louis L'amour.
(L'amour's autobiography Education of a Wandering Man --- another good book)
The term HOBO meant the migrant work population of the early 20th century.

SORRY, the teacher in me is coming out................
