[philmont] Miner's Park to Black Mountain Camp

I wore my gaiters everyday no matter what type of trail we were to travel. If I did not wear them on a shakedown, it never failed that a little rock found its way into my boot in less than 15 minutes. It is embarrassing to call a stop to get it out. The pair I have go a couple of inches above my boots. I wore my Columbia convertables (legs attached) and never had a problem with rocks in my boots or wet feet in the rain.

Our crew is doing Trek #12 this summer. On Day 5 we hike from Miner's Park, up North Fork Urraca Creek, to Black Mountain Camp. I remember a trail will about 50 stream crossings being discussed on the list in the past.

Is this the trail with lots of stream crossings?

What are your memories of hiking this trail?

Would gaiters have been helpful?
