This is 'old' 26which I took in 2006, a great walk. If possible arrange
for the environmental program at Miners to be done at North Fork Urraca ...
this is what the staff suggested in '06, it was great, there is a fairly
large Beaver Dam and lots of Trout ... and it was a nice spot to stop and
eat to boot. While I enjoyed the walk, and we got a real good look at a
bear on that trail, the crossing get a bit much, also lots of puds ...
pointless ups an downs, but trully a beautiful walk.

Photos on PhilSearch for Enviromental Awareness @ Miners Park were acutally
taken at NFU.

Trip Log for 2006/26 at www.troop6bsa.org then philmont from the menu.

Finally I'm a fan of Gaiters, but they won't help you here ... unless, like
me, you prefer to wear shorts and use them to keep water from running into
your boots in the rain.

Our crew is doing Trek #12 this summer. On Day 5 we hike from Miner's
Park, up North Fork Urraca Creek, to Black Mountain Camp. I remember a trail
will about 50 stream crossings being discussed on the list in the past.

Is this the trail with lots of stream crossings?

What are your memories of hiking this trail?

  Would gaiters have been helpful?
