We are excited to announce that Blue Sky Adventures and Main Event Transportation have agreed to financially sponsor and operate the Cimarron Shuttle this summer. We are providing a bus, fuel, multiple drivers, liability insurance, and all required licensing. Each passenger will be charged a fee of $2 for the roundtrip from Philmont to Cimarron. We do not intend to make a profit on this service; we simply hope to cover our expenses. The shuttle will run on a regular schedule and will not require reservations. The times and hours will be posted in the Welcome Center and there will be two clearly marked stops in Cimarron. It will be first come, first served but we will do our best to accommodate everyone as quickly as we can.

As Scouters, we believe the trip into Cimarron is a key part of a successful Philmont experience. Not only is it great for the kids to bond over pizza and tell stories over burritos, but we believe a tour of Cimarron is also an integral part of understanding the history and culture of the Wild West. To those who scratch the surface a bit, Cimarron is a place rich with history about the Santa Fe Trail and the westward expansion that occurred in the early years of the United States. While the historical significance may be lost on some people, we would like every Scout and Scouter to have the opportunity to go into “town” and to explore the St. James, the Old Mill museum, and yes to eat a green chile cheeseburger and get some ice cream!

We are very pleased to provide this service to all those going to Philmont. Please share this exciting announcement with the 2007 Philmont participants in your area. We hope to see you soon on a Blue Sky Adventures tour to either Philmont or Sea Base.

  Yours In Scouting,
