I have a picture of the Tobasco Donkey that was in service at Cyphers
Mine in 2002.
I can send it - if anyone else is interested. Please contact me off-list.

I am not sure which camps still use these, if any. We also used one
at Sawmill in 1999.
They work very well - all things considered. It is a lot like a
conventional water heater, except the heat source.

It takes a while to get the fire started and bring cold spring water
up to a desirable temperature. Once at temperature you can start
taking showers and service quite a few people - if you keep feeding
the fire ...

My recollection is that you have to scrounge up your own wood.

We had fun and had a good hot shower.

It is not a casual endeavor. It is hard work, but the rewards are worth it.
I recall spending a couple of hours start to finish.....
