[Philmont] Status Report: Cool and Skeeters

The Philmont Conservation staff member from my home venture crew came home
this weekend for his 3-day layover (it's nice to be less than 4 hours from
Philmont!) and I spoke to him at a fellow Scout's Eagle Court of Honor. He
reports that it has been cool and very rainy at Philmont. Early last week,
he was on Mt Phillips and it was snowing on him. He said that there are
still snow drifts on Phillips, Baldy and the rest of the high peaks. Also
drifts on the shady side of the slopes at higher elevations.

Because of all the wetness, he says the skeeters are bad, worse than he has
seen (he's done two treks and PhilStaff for a year before). Of course,
that can change if things dry out for a week or so, but I figured I'd give
you all what information I had.

YIS.
