[Philmont] Tyvek as ground cloth

Awhile back I saw a suggestion to use tyvek instead of plastic under the
tents. Then there was a suggestion to wash the tyvek to make it more soft and
packable. When I did this, the tyvek no longer holds water. Have I misunderstood
 something? Any suggestions? Thanks for you help.
