I wore these as camp shoes in 2005 http://www.rei.com/product/720183 The heal is closed off more than the other pair. I also wore my sock liners after I rubbed a blister on my heal retreving the bear bags one morning (only one I got on the trek). Like them because I can put them toe in heal and strap on my backpack, and they allow my feet to air. The are also perfect for kayaking (first place I used them). On second pair.

I used these for my "CAMP" shoes in 2003 and plan to use them this summer too. No one said anything in 2003.
I wanted these in 2003 after having to "wet foot" cross a lot of streams in 1999. Happy there are LOTS of bridges to use now.
Wouldn't want to hike full time in them, taking lots of duct tape in case I blow out a boot.
