We did hike in from the south, which I understand there are restrictions,
but the trail on the north side isn't a whole lot better, as well as the
trail heading further south into Red Hills campsite. I did not mean to come
across negative, but just wanted to let others know, so that they might have
a better idea of what to expect. The VAST MAJORITY of trails we hiked are
in phenomenal condition and are superbly maintained.

Trails were in great shape, except those around Mt.
Phillips (which were horribly rocky).

The back side of Clear Creek Mtn (Mt Phillips) is not on property owned by
Philmont and there are stiff restrictions and lots of red tape preventing
good trail maintence. If they could, they would fix them. They meaning
Philmont.
It does make one appreciate all the effort and hard work that goes into
proper trail maintenance on Philmont property..
