Human sump was the 'norm' in '97. As was the "trickle down" hand clea=
ning. And you know what? .....All my crew has survived with no ill-ef=

Scouts in my venture crew have an unusual way to eat the oatmeal =
=0D=0Abreakfasts. They use it on days when they need to get up, and =
on the trail =0D=0Ain a hurry. They sinply get a mouthful of water, =
then pour in some dry =0D=0Aoatmeal, right out of the package. They =
let in rehydrate for a minute or so =0D=0Ain their mouth, and then sw=
allow. There is no time wasted on firing up the =0D=0Astoves, heatin=
g water, heating wash water, then cleaning dishes, then waiting =0D=
=0Afor the stoves to cool off. It saves a lot of time. They do the =
same thing =0D=0Awith Gatorade drink mix at lunch. I'm not saying th=
is technique is for every =0D=0Acrew, but it works for my guys. They=
also "human sump" all meals. This =0D=0Ameans they eat their food, =
get as much as possible out of their cup / bowl, =0D=0Athen pour wate=
r in and clean the cup. Then they drink the water, with all =0D=
=0Aof the floaties in it. Almost nothing goes to the "yum yum" bag t=
his way. =0D=0AOur ranger got really upset when he saw this, and cal=
led it "harassment" of =0D=0Athe scouts. Imagine his surprise when i=
t was the other way around. The =0D=0AScouts had to convince the adu=
lts to do these things. They save lots of time.=0D=0A=0D=0AChas. Cli=
