Sorry Folks,
I just read my own reply and realized I left out a
very important word in the recommendation of whether
or not to use trek poles for a trek. NOT!
 
I would NOT, I repeat Not hike without them.
Trek poles a a critical part of safety as far as I am
concerned.
 
I apologize for any confusion my lack of typing and
proof reading may have caused.
