I found the changes to Trek 20 interary interesting. They have reduced the
actual mileage and changed the rating from rugged to strenuous. By changing
from Turkey Creek in 2001 to Visto Grande in 2002 the trek has to have been
shortened by at least 4 miles, yet the mileage listed increased from 61 to
65. 65 may be close to accurate for 2002. We did Trek 20 last year and
there is not way it was 61 miles. We estimated 85 counting the side hikes
we did. Day 10 was Turkey Creek to Hunting Lodge via Ute Gulch for food was
15 miles. A challenging day for our crew. In my opinion, the change to
Visto Grande improves this trek.
