[Philmont]: Shipping stoves to Philmont

In 1999 I aired out the stoves and fuel bottles to get rid of all aroma.
I then packed them in a box which I shipped about two weeks prior to my
leaving for Philmont via UPS ground. I addressed this package to myself at
the address on Parents tear out card inside the Guidebook to Adventure. I
made sure my trek number was on it 723G2. When I arrived at Philmont my
package was there waiting for me. For peace of mind I tracked my package
across the country via the internet, I knew where it was the entire trip.
Incidentally I had tape and labels for repacking for the return trip. I
stored the box, labels, tape, and packing materials in the crew locker while
I was on trek.
As the trek wound down I started airing the empty fuel bottles while I was
still on the trail. I aired the last one and the stove on the last day.
On my return to Camping Headquarters I repacked everything in the same box
and took it to the Philmont Post Office.
I will be doing exactly the same thing this year it worked very well for me.
