We have a 'youth' who will have just turned 19 when we go in 2003. We have
4 true adults, two men and two women so that's a no-brainer. Can he truly
not tent with another youth under 18? It would seem odd he couldn't tent
with the same boys he always has, just because he happens to be a year
ahead of them in school and have a June birthday. If he really can't tent
with another youth, we'll have another 'odd' one then, as our crew is a
full 12, 4 adults 8 'youth'. Thanks!

Terry Newkirk asks...

Do I read this email correctly? They won't allow an adult to use a single
person
tent if you have an even number of advisors on the trail?...

Comment -

Our crew last summer had 4 advisors - two shared a tent, and two used very
small
two man tents as singles, with no problems or questions from anyone. The
fourth
"advisor" (one of the singles) had just turned 18, so fell into the
youth/not
a youth quagmire - can't tent with the true youths, etc. Forcing him to
share
a tent with a true adult seemed counter-productive.
